Welcome to the Winchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church's Adventures in Learning Preschool. Growing up in today's world is a lot different and more difficult than it used to be. We feel that children need a strong foundation in order to succeed in our ever-changing world. At our preschool, we hope to provide a loving, safe environment in which children can learn through singing, laughing, imagining, and playing. We want to help children develop self-confidence, learn to think for themselves, and appreciate the uniqueness in everyone.
Our curriculum develops language, math, self-discipline, and coordination skills through the use of role-playing, dramatic play, discovery activities, and storytelling. The importance of social skills such as good manners and cooperation are also the focus of our curriculum. We hope children will leave us with an increased awareness of the values and morals a Christian should exhibit at all times. A Bible story will be introduced each week. The children will learn about the story and do an activity or two to enhance the learning of the story.
Our preschool operates two separate 2-day per week programs. Our Monday/Wednesday days begin at 8:30 A.M. and end at 2:30 P.M. Our Tuesday/Thursday days also begin at 8:30 A.M. and end at 2:30 P.M. The cost of the Monday/Wednesday program as well as the Tuesday/Thursday program is $125.00 per month.
The monthly payment is due the first week of the month. A late charge of $10.00 will be added to your fee if paid after the first week of the month. There is a $75.00 registration/supply fee for each child registered.
All children must be brought to their classroom each morning at 8:25 A.M. and signed in. If you have any special instructions for your child for the day, you should share this with the teacher when you sign your child in each morning. Children should not arrive before 8:25 AM because teachers will be preparing for the day and will not be in their classrooms.
All children will be dismissed under the covered awning located at the back of the church. When you register your child, you will be given a number to place in your car. This is your number that will match your child's number at the pick up line. If a child is not picked up by 2:45 P.M., a late charge of $10.00 will be added to your fee.
Each teacher will send a monthly calendar home at the beginning of each month. Parents will be asked to supply morning snacks on an alternating schedule. Suggestions for the snacks are cheese and crackers, gold fish crackers, fruit. We strongly suggest juice boxes for the drink.
All children will need a backpack. We suggest a large backpack. This will be the primary source of correspondence between the teacher and parent. Please check the backpack daily for children's papers and letters from the teachers.
A nap will be taken each day following lunch. Please provide a mat for your child. We prefer a Kinder mat. Do not bring a cover for the mat. You may bring a small blanket and small pillow for your child. Children will bring their lunch on these days. We strongly suggest talking with your child about what they will eat for lunch. We dislike throwing away uneaten food. Again we strongly suggest juice boxes for their drink.
Wonderful activities are being planned all year for your child. We welcome you to join us at anytime to observe, assist, or lead a lesson. If you have a special hobby or talent that you would like to share, please do. If any problems arise, we will strive to correct them as quickly as possible.
